Rec HiMALAyA 2011 Expedition Trek details to be advised - likely a walk in to the rolwaling Valley and walk out. We'll be a group of 6 -10 strong and competent MtnRec trek/climbing friends.

Objectives: The walking distance covered will be
significant, diverse, at times robust, but nowhere in the
world are there more spectacular mountain vistas . The
acclimatization rate is based on a 300m/day elevation

The acclimatization rate is based on a 300m/day elevation gain over 1st ten days.TREK ACCOMMODATION: The traditional trek format is tent based. However in the populated parts of Khumbu valley there are A numerous trek lodges. Both forms of accommodation have their advantages. We plan to use both when and where appropriate. (Ice axe & crampons can be hired in Wanaka or Kathmandu @ US$10/day) and if trekkers wish they can sleep in lodges pay for the bed on a nightly basis (US$5-8/night)(Current Exch rate US$1 - 75 rupees) There are some nights when the lodge option may be available (and hot? showers at US$5) Organisation: Geoff Wayatt has led six previous expeditions into the region and climbed Island Peak on three occasions attempted. The Exp. support organiser, Chhudlim Temba Sherpa has climbed Everest twice and was employed as Everest Exp. Sirdar by former MtnRec Instructor, Russell Brice. He has also worked for MtnRec in NZ. Equipment and Medical Guidelines: To be sent with booking confirmation. Expedition Cost: Mountain Recreation will be responsible the organisation and the main trek/climb costs from Kathmandu return. These include: Trek organisation, GW guiding fee, Sherpa guide support, cooks and porter staff, main meals and utensils , trek & Nat. Park permits, Peak fees and ropes, Sherpa insurance & eqt.allowance; the Kathmandu-Lukla return flights, three nights accommodation and breakfasts in Kathmandu.(1 before & 2 after the trek). Not included are: International Airfares, taxes, excess baggage (Note:Kath/Lukla is 15kgs limit!) Nepal 60 day visa (US$30), taxis, phonecalls, Kathmandu meals, enroute snickers bar survey, teahouse cuppas, chung/beer and toiletpaper, personal trekking, medical and climbing clothing/eqt. (lists to be supplied) Geoff will carry a comprehensive group medical kit. Approx. cost: NZ $......... (Based on a minimum of 8 and subject to $US/NZ exchange rate fluctuation.) Booking Conditions: We need to make a firm booking and deposit with Chhuldim's Mountain Experience during March 2007 to confirm minimum numbers. A Registration Form is included for completion and return with a $500 deposit to confirm the booking.

MtnRec will be responsible organization and costs for the Trek/Climb segment costs. These include: GW guiding fee, trek organization, food, accommodation, group eqt. trek permits and peak fees (1 -6,000 m peak.) Kathmandu-Phaplu or Lukla flight; 3 nights accom in Kathmandu.(1 before & 2 after the trek) Not included: International Airfares; airport departure taxes,Visa and /Passport charges; meals in Kathmandu; emergency evacuation; medical and travel insurance; additional nights in Kathmandu; unforseen travel delay costs; excess baggage (we will try and negotiate a higher group allowance).
