Mountain Rec HiMALAyA 2011 Expedition

Join me at 6,000m on a Himalayan summit!
EVEREST REGION
Trek Date:  - Trek/ Climb Duration: 23-25 days
Expedition Leader: Geoff Wayatt

Trek details to be advised - likely a walk in to the rolwaling Valley and walk out.

We'll be a group of 6 -10 strong and competent MtnRec trek/climbing friends.
In 1999, 2002, 2003 & 2004, 06 & 07, we successfully completed similar 25 day trek-climbs in the Everest region.

Nepal politics: Significant political changes have occurred

Expedition Objectives:
Expedition Format: It is my intention to run the trip on an informal, alpine style expedition. This will mean that the expedition members will have to carry more responsibility for their achievements. I hope this will also mean greater satisfaction. My belief is is if we can minimise our baggage, we can maximise our fun (within reason) Chuldim Temba (2x Everest summit)knows my philosophy and I’ll trust him to put together the local logistics that work best for everyone.
Geoff Wayatt

The walking distance covered will be significant, diverse, at times robust, but nowhere in the world are there more spectacular mountain vistas . The acclimatization rate is based on a 300m/day elevation gain over 1st ten days.

Expedition Cost: Mountain Recreation will be responsible the organisation and the main trek/climb costs from Kathmandu return. These include: GW guiding fee, trek organization, food, accommodation, group eqt. trek permits and peak fees (1 -6,000 m peak.) Kathmandu- Lukla flight; 3 nights accom in Kathmandu.(1 before & 2 after the trek) Details available. Approx. cost: NZ $6500

The acclimatization rate is based on a 300m/day elevation gain over 1st ten days.TREK ACCOMMODATION: The traditional trek format is tent based. However in the populated parts of Khumbu valley there are A numerous trek lodges. Both forms of accommodation have their advantages. We plan to use both when and where appropriate. (Ice axe & crampons can be hired in Wanaka or Kathmandu @ US$10/day) and if trekkers wish they can sleep in lodges pay for the bed on a nightly basis (US$5-8/night)(Current Exch rate US$1 - 75 rupees) There are some nights when the lodge option may be available (and hot? showers at US$5)

Organisation: Geoff Wayatt has led six previous expeditions into the region and climbed Island Peak on three occasions attempted.
